RIC (Receiver-In-Canal)

The Clinical Fitting Protocol
Buying a hearing aid is not a transaction; it is a clinical process. To ensure maximum benefit, Echo Audiology follows a strict verification protocol:

Comprehensive Hearing Assessment
The process begins with a full audiological evaluation, including case history, otoscopic examination, pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, and immittance testing where indicated. Results are discussed clearly with the client to explain the type, degree, and impact of hearing loss.

Hearing Aid Recommendation & Counselling
Based on the assessment results, listening needs, lifestyle, and budget, suitable hearing aid options are recommended. Counselling covers realistic expectations, hearing aid styles, technology levels, and benefits.

Ear Impressions (if required)
For custom hearing aids or earmoulds, accurate ear impressions are taken safely and comfortably. Our customised programmable hearing aids take a minimum period of 2-3weeks to be prepared for collection.

Hearing Aid Fitting & Programming
The hearing aids are programmed using evidence-based fitting formulas matched to the individual’s audiogram. Verification (such as real-ear or simulated measures) is used where appropriate to ensure optimal amplification.

Orientation & Informational Counselling
Clients are shown how to insert, remove, clean, and care for their hearing aids. Guidance on battery use or charging, troubleshooting, and communication strategies is provided.

Trial Period & Follow-Up
A follow-up appointment is scheduled to assess comfort, sound quality, and benefit in real-life situations. Fine-tuning adjustments are made, and ongoing support is offered to ensure long-term success with the hearing aids
